[solved] How to flash Proxmark3 Firmware in Ubuntu 17?

Followed the guide, but at ./flasher -b ../../bootrom/obj/bootrom.elf

i just get

Waiting for Proxmark to appear on USB... . .. .. . .. .

Tried holding down the button, unplugging/replugging, it exists and I run commands from proxmark3> command prompt so I don't know why it can't sense it over USB. Whatever the solution, it should be added to the Getting Started guides for Ubuntu.

Some thoughts on how I got this to work, compiled from multiple other people encountering these problems.

One: sudo
Two: /dev/ttyACM0
Three: hold the buttons
Four: Start to unplug the usb on the proxmark's side (maybe jiggle it is enough?)

So instead of what all the guides say, on Ubuntu you need to write commands like:

sudo ./flasher /dev/ttyACM0 -b ../bootrom/obj/bootrom.elf

sudo ./flasher /dev/ttyACM0 -b ../armsrc/obj/fullimage.elf

On the second one, unplugging/replugging USB with button held did nothing, but starting to unplug the usb cable from the Proxmark3's end while holding the button made it suddenly connect. Very bizarre.

regarding the wiki:
...the wiki for ubuntu could need some remake since it only describes how to update with the old hid-flasher which was the command you used. Same goes for Gentoo wiki page.

The Kali-page looks updated.   The generic flashing page looks like it needs some rewritting aswell.

Feel free to update them.

I did update the Ubuntu and Kali wiki page.  I belive it is not that confusing anymore.

Hi Mike, following this instruction https://github.com/RfidResearchGroup/proxmark3 you found for ubuntu . open terminal and clone the file and following .
