Annoying 125khz clone issue (pulling my hair out)

Hi guys,

I'm new to proxmark and trying to understand if/how it can help me solve this annoying issue of mine.

I got a 125khz card from work. The card opens two doors- lobby and parking lot. I used a Chinese cloning device to clone the card onto a T5577 card. The cloned card opens the lobby door but does not open the parking lot door. In fact, the reader at the parking lot *ignores* the card. Usually when a card with a wrong code is presented to that reader, a red LED light is turned on. In my case there is no red LED light and no reaction whatsoever.

I'm not sure what's the issue here. I tried searching for an answer here and on google but with no luck.

Please assist,
Thank you!

Hey Iceman. Thank you for replying. This is the cloning device I used:

Re: Annoying 125khz clone issue (pulling my hair out)

While a lot of the cloners look the same, they may have some things they do different.
I have one the looks the same as that, and when it writes to the card it sets a password.  The password seems to be based on the card ID (so different with every write).  To get this password you need to sniff the write and decode that to find the password.
Yours may not do this and a common password may work.

As you have a proxmark and you are new, I would suggest you try to clone the card with the proxmark to a new blank card and test that.
Then test and get that working, that will help build the skills.

Then once you have that working, move back to the cloner and sniff/snoop the write and decode to get the password (good skills to have).  Once you a have the password you will be able to read the t55xx card on the proxmark and compare.

Do you know the type of card you are cloning from ?  e.g. lf search (the original)

Original card with 2 chips: 125kHz+13.56MHz?

The t5577 is lf (125 khz) only.  Could the door be 125 khz and the parking lot be 13.56 Mhz ?

This is a very interesting theory you guys. I'm waiting for my Proxmark to arrive and then I will be able to check it.
I will update. Thank you!

@flame2262
Yep, when you get your proxmark3 you will be able to really work the problem.... Some sniffin` some decodin` and readin` and written` all good fun.

I would suggest the following when you get the pm3
- Have a general play and read the wiki and search the forum.
- When you get the hang of using the proxmark, lf search and hf search the original card (this should ID what sort of card it is)
- then repeat with the clone from the cloner - see if that is a match.
- then the fun starts smile
