Hi, is there a way for me to burn a card so that not even the selection loop is accomplished?
I guess that if I mess up the card's access bits I can eventually put the card into a useless state.
But what about preventing the card to be recognized at all?
Maybe messing up the access control bits for sector 0?

Interesting, and I think that would do it.
Is it in a final commercial stage? Do you know of any equipment that can do that?
However, I'm still wondering. If one changes the access bits to render the card unreadable to everyone ... Would a card still answer to the select loop?
I'm asking if maybe you know the answer due to previous experience.

Reading manuals the answer is yes, card can always be selected (after POR (Power On Reset) card answer to a request command (REQA - sent by the reader) and the answer is the 2 bytes ATQA [Answer To reQuest - type A] as ISO14443A standard says) while access bits have limits:
- for example sector trailer (block3 of a specific sector) can ALWAYS BE READ;
- data blocks can be permanently blocked using access bits;
- manufacturer block (sector0-block0) is NOT affected by access bits settings and is permanently locked (except for some specific factory-modified chinese cards);
So I think the answer to your question is NO, you cannot completely block the access to a card.
The hardware posted by roel seems to be a 13.56mHz jammer (like 2.4GHz jammers used to block WiFi, BT, etc. transmissions).

thekboss is right. I tested it and it worked
However, you could see that the card was damaged by simply looking at it closely
(there was a small hole).
I also build a RFID-Zapper. It worked even better.
The card is dead and you can see no damage from the outside!
